Skiing

Mount Ashland – Offering plenty of adventure for both skiers and snowboarders. The ski area is located about a half an hour drive from the charming town of Ashland. At 7,500 feet, Mt. Ashland is the highest point in the Siskiyou mountain range. Its north facing slopes collect an average 300 inches of snowfall annually. The ski area offers 23 trails in addition to its famous bowl.

Mount Shasta – Provides a full array of beginner to intermediate terrain and gradients, and the best terrain park and super pipe in the region. extensive snowmaking system can cover over half of the park.

Diamond Lake Resort or Crater Lake  have great Cross Country Skiing on miles of groomed trails and connect to hundreds of miles of marked winter trails throughout the Cascade and Siskiyou mountains.

Forests

Any time of year is a great time to enjoy Winema National Forest and Rogue River-Siskiyou National ForestBoth offer a variety of hiking, fishing, camping, boating, scenic driving and other outdoor activities. Consistently rated one of the best snowmobiling areas in the country the forests offer hundreds of miles of marked and groomed trails. Spectacular views of volcanic peaks and alpine meadows can be had from the Pacific Crest Trail and many others. From power boating on beautiful high mountain lakes to exploring untouched wilderness areas Southern Oregon forests never disappoint.

Hunting & Fishing

Wildlife

Over 500 species of wildlife call Southern Oregon Home, including 100 species of mammals and 350 bird species, and you don’t have to go far to see them. Hawks and Bald eagles can be regularly seen over the fields surrounding the appropriately named city of Eagle Point. Klamath Basin Birding Trails is a great place to start enjoying the wildlife. If you keep your eye open you may just see a bobcat or even a black bear! (don’t worry no aggressive grizzly’s live here) I you want the African safari experience or prefer your wild animals behind fences try Wildlife Safari in Winston or Wildlife Images in Grants Pass.

Sports

The area is dotted with sports parks, complexes and clubs for the the casual athlete, or if you want some competition try one of the dozens of local leagues and tournaments. For instance just the sport of tennis offers over 100 public courts plus three private tennis clubs.
